In cases where a participant is on the verge of meeting the requirements, they may be permitted to engage in the session without utilizing the monofin and skin.
- The participants must listen to the safety rules set out by the instructor. Failure to do so will mean the participant is no longer allowed to participate after 3 verbal warnings are given .
- If a participant does not listen to the safety rules and injures themself or someone else they will be held responsible and not 'The Mermaid School' or the instructor.
Behaviour Policy:
-
Our mermaids are experienced in interacting with children and managing diverse behaviours across various age groups. While they can address and redirect most undesirable conduct, there are specific behaviours that will not be condoned, including:
-
Any attempt to harm another Participant (such as pulling hair or earrings, biting, hitting, spitting, throwing objects, or submerging another participant).
-
Damage to the tails and monofins (although gentle exploration is welcomed).
-
Destructive actions towards company equipment.
-
Any harmful or aggressive actions towards the teacher or other students will not be tolerated. If a child/participant displays aggression and standard redirection methods fail, the teacher may use a stricter tone of voice to reinforce safety and attentiveness. If the behaviour persists without adult intervention, the participant may need to withdraw temporarily until the situation is resolved. This measure, while a last resort, aims to ensure a safe environment for all involved.
-
In cases of intentional damage to the equiptment, clients may be held accountable for additional charges to cover damages and compensation after reasonable warnings are disregarded (e.g., ripping tails and damaging flukes).
-
Failure to adhere to our behaviour guidelines may result in the teacher terminating the booking prematurely, with clients being liable for the full amount of the booking plus damages incurred.
Photography Policy:
-
Photos and videos may only be taken at appropriate times in the lesson as indicated by the instructor. Parents/guardians and participants will be informed if any participants have not consented to be shown in photos or videos. Do not include any participants in your photos and videos without their prior consent. Parents/guardians and participants should seek permission to share images and videos on social media or WhatsApp unless specific consent has been given. All people involved and those observing The Mermaid School participants in the lesson must comply with any venue policies or procedures, regardless of The Mermaid School's policies. Photos and videos in changing areas and toilets are strictly prohibited.
The Mermaid Equipment:
-
The mermaid monofin and tail skin are provided solely for the duration of the session. The lesson fee does not cover the acquisition of the equipment utilized.
-
It is imperative to handle the equipment with care and prioritise safety. Individuals using the tail skin and monofin irresponsibly will be asked to remove them.
-
Participants are required to comply with the safety guidelines established by the instructor regarding the equipment they are using.
-
We have a variety of tail sizes available for children and Adults. However, if the participant has given the wrong size in the booking form they might not be able to wear a tail skin. The kid’s monofins are adjustable from a UK 9 - 4.5 and the adult fits a UK 2 - 10.5 so will fit a wide range of sizes.
-
If you have your own equipment it must be approved by us prior to the session. Only reputable brands will be allowed e.g. Mertailor, Finfun, Magic tail, Mermaid Lindon, Mahina etc. This is to insure that the equipment is safe to use for the participant within the session.
